Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Dekko Place
Serving the Community: The renovation of and addition to this existing building, at the corner of 9th Avenue and Stewart Street in Downtown Seattle, is a unique mix of affordable housing, social service, shelter and church uses. The landscape is designed with simplicity in mind, creating a seamless flow between the exterior and interior spaces. The courtyard design is subdued to allow light from the stained glass to drape over the space, blending into the adjacent chapel. The rooftop deck and green roof provide a outdoor amenity space as well as visual appeal from the surrounding high rise buildings.
